I think I will go for a little blog......

The title of this blog is to champion Annie's triumphant success in the L.A. Marathon! Congrats, baby!

I know…late again! Maybe no one reads this blog so no one will know how late I am posting it – but then, no one will know why I am late with the post and no one will know all the fun things that have been happening in and around Petit

I am late posting this blog because:
1. John and I spent our 12th anniversary in Carmel (thanks for running Petit, Annie!) and on the long way back to SLO we detoured to Hanford and picked up Huckleberry and Phinley, our ten week old Welsh Terrier pups (AKA Huck and Phinn)
2. Tax time – need I say more?
3. April Fool’s Day
4. Kids home on their respective Spring Breaks
5. Easter!
All these events added up to no time to sit down and write. As it is, typing this is quite fun-filled watching these two entertaining puppies run around the house wrestling, teasing Nottie, running after balls, chasing tails and other objects not cemented down. What, pray tell, were we thinking getting two puppies? Heaven knows! I guess it was because John thought it would take two little Welsh Terriers to fill our Waldo’s paws. No one clearly thought through the night time potty runs nor stepping in the “accidents” nor falling over the crate while chasing one pup going piddle and falling nose first on the play pen fence (blood gushing from my nose at 2:30am)……All too much fun! and no one thought it through Ah

Spring break in SLO! The town is a’hoppin’! Lots of families with college bound kids touring Cal Poly - parents curious about San Luis Obispo because they will be making this their new vacation destination for the next four plus years! I know I mentioned all this in last year’s blog because it really is a happy time to be at Petit – the excitement is contagious!

April is a great month to be visiting the Central Coast period.!!!
! Remnants of the Past (April 24th) !,
Earth Day Celebrations (April 16-18th),
Cal Poly Wine Fest Weekend (April 23-25th),
Roll Out the Barrels (April 29-May 2),
Hospice du Rhone (April 29-30th) and
Farmer’s Markets are exploding with strawberries, artichokes and lots of spring fruits and veggies.
We will post the web sites for all these events on our Events Page for your easy access.

We have had lots of complements on the wines for April – already!

Pierre Sparr 2008 Alsace One
YUM! An Alsatian blend of Muscat, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Gewurtztraminer. It was especially amazing with the Curry Cream Cheese and Mango Chutney Bruschetta ..the pairing was perfect!

Niner Winery 2007 Sauvignon Blanc
A delish wine that pairs easily with almost all foods

Murphy Goode Winery “The Fume”
This wine was a fun find as they used a clone of Sauvignon Blanc called Sauvignon Musque to add the flavors of orange blossom and tangerine to the nuances of the wine. I know our guests will love this wine while relaxing and chatting in the back courtyard

Tolosa 2009 Rose
This wine was literally just released! Larry Brooks, Tolosa’s winemaker, hasn’t even had time to make up tasting notes for this Rose. It is very “Provencal” – like you stepped into a charming outdoor café in Aix en Provence and ordered a Rose. It is dry and quite close to perfect – in my mind!

Wolff Vineyards 2008 Petit Syrah
Step back! This is a killer wine! Over the top - try it! You will certainly agree!

Perrin 2007 Reserve Cotes du Rhone
A light bodied red, typical of a Cotes du Rhone blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre magically vinted by the famed Beaucastel family of the Rhone wine appelation

PerBacco 2006 Pinot Noir
Most everyone loves a delicious Pinot Noir and this one will definitely tease and delight your taste buds. It has loads of cherry and plum flavors – easy drinking and delicious!

If you didn’t read this blog than I have no need to apologize to you for the late post and if you read the blog then you will know to look for Huck and Phinn behind the front desk at Petit, and you will know all the fun stuff that will be happening in the area and why San Luis Obispo County is such a thoroughly enjoyable spot in April!

Happy Adventures to all,
Dianne
